Abstract
Immunization is an effort to build and strengthen the body's immune system to prevent diseases from becoming severe. However, parents' knowledge and compliance with basic immunization remains a problem in some areas. National data shows that the coverage of complete basic immunization in 2023 has decreased to 95.4%. Low immunization coverage is influenced by a lack of understanding about the benefits, schedule, and side effects of vaccines. Health education using leaflets is an easily accessible method that has been proven effective in increasing knowledge and behavior related to immunization. This study aims to determine the difference in mothers' knowledge and compliance in administering basic immunizations before and after being given health education using leaflets. The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach without a control group, which was conducted in the Bambu Apus Community Health Center working area. The study sample consisted of 44 mothers who had babies aged 0-9 months and met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected through knowledge and compliance questionnaires. The Wilcoxon test results showed a significant difference in mothers' knowledge (p<0.001), while the McNemar test on mothers' compliance showed a p-value of 0.016. In conclusion, health education using leaflets has an effect on increasing mothers' knowledge and compliance in completing their children's basic immunizations. Leaflets are expected to be integrated as a supporting medium in immunization programs at the community level.
