Abstract

The shooting incident that killed a student of SMKN 4 Semarang named Gamma by police officers from the Semarang Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Unit has become an interesting national issue to report, because this incident has high news value, namely conflict and human interest and involves the police institution. This study aims to analyze how the local media Tribunjateng.com framed the news of the shooting case in the period of November 25, 2024. The local media Tribunjateng.com was chosen because it is the most active local media in reporting this event and has been factually verified since 2021. The research method used is qualitative-descriptive with the Entman framing analysis model which goes through 4 (four) stages, namely, defining the problem, causing the problem, making moral decisions and solving the problem. The results of the study show that Tribunjateng.com tends to side with the victim compared to the police. This bias is seen from the dominance of narratives that place the police as the guilty party and the victim as the innocent party, as well as the dominance of highlighting criticism of the police, such as the lack of transparency in handling the case and the impact of trauma experienced by the victim.
