Abstract
This study is motivated by the increasing consumption of horror narrative content on YouTube as a form of digital entertainment, particularly among adolescents and young adults. Horror content is commonly associated with fear. The YouTube channel Nadia Omara has a high and continuously growing number of subscribers. Quantitative research on the influence of horror narrative messages on subscribers’ entertainment satisfaction in Indonesian horror YouTube channels remains limited. This research is grounded in the Uses and Gratifications theory, which emphasizes that audiences actively select media to fulfill their entertainment needs. The study employs a quantitative research method with an explanatory survey approach, involving 100 respondents who are subscribers of the Nadia Omara YouTube channel. The results of the hypothesis testing indicate that the calculated t-value of 12.731 is greater than the t-table value of 1.984, with a significance level of p < 0.001, indicating that the hypothesis (H₁) is accepted and that horror narrative messages have a significant effect on subscribers’ entertainment satisfaction. Furthermore, the coefficient of determination test shows an R² value of 0.623, meaning that horror narrative messages explain 62.3% of the variance in entertainment satisfaction. In addition, the linear regression analysis reveals a regression coefficient of 0.744, indicating a positive relationship between horror narrative messages and subscribers’ entertainment satisfaction. Moreover, the F-test result (F = 162.0, p < 0.001) confirms that the regression model is statistically significant and appropriate.
