Abstract
Background: The prevalence of hypertension among young adults has increased due to unhealthy lifestyle changes, while research among non-health students remains limited. Health examination data from UPNVJ in 2024 showed that 33.7% of newly enrolled students at the Faculty of Economics and Business had hypertension. Objective: This study analyzed the association between physical activity, smoking, salt and fat intake, family history of hypertension, and blood pressure among UPNVJ buiseness students.. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 66 active students from the 2024 cohort selected by simple random sampling. Data were collected from October to November2025 using a digital sphygmomanometer, IPAQ, Brinkman Index, CDS-12, and a modified FFQ. Chi-square and multiple logistic regression analyses were performed (p<0.05).. Results: The prevalence of prehypertension was 47% and hypertension was 10.6%, with a higher proportion of abnormal blood pressure among male students. Smoking habits were significantly associated with blood pressure (p=0.034) and identified as the dominant risk factor in multivariate analysis (p=0.040; OR=0.270; 95% CI: 0.077–0.950). Conclusion: Smoking habits were the main risk factor for hypertension among students, highlighting the need for regular blood pressure screening and strengthened smoke-free campus policies.
