Abstract

Generation-Z is the largest demographic group in Indonesia and plays a strategic role in the growth of Islamic finance, as reflected in the rising participation of young investors in Sharia-compliant investment instruments. Nevertheless, low levels of Islamic financial literacy and inclusion remain persistent challenges, underscoring the need for further empirical investigation. This study examines the effects of Islamic financial literacy, digitalization, and income on the decision to choose Sharia-compliant investment instruments among Generation-Z in Jakarta. A quantitative approach was employed, involving 96 respondents born between 1997 and 2008 selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a four-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS software. The findings reveal that Islamic financial literacy has a positive and significant effect on investment decision-making, indicating that a sound understanding of Sharia principles, contractual structures, and risk management enhances confidence and fosters favorable investment attitudes among Generation-Z. Digitalization also exerts a positive and significant influence, as ease of application use, transaction efficiency, and service security improve accessibility and strengthen investor confidence. In addition, income has a positive and significant effect on investment decisions, suggesting that higher financial capacity increases the likelihood of Generation-Z participating in Sharia-compliant investment.
