Abstract

PT Akulaku Group, as a fintech company with a fast-paced work environment and a focus on service, requires human resources with optimal performance. Performance is influenced by various aspects of the work environment, including the quality of communication between employees, working conditions, and individual competence in carrying out tasks. This study was conducted to examine the extent to which interpersonal communication and the work environment influence employee performance, as well as to see whether competence acts as a mediating factor in the relationship between these variables. The research approach used was quantitative through the distribution of questionnaires to 154 active employees of PT Akulaku Group in Jakarta who met the research criteria. The collected data were analyzed using the Partial Least Square–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method through the SmartPLS 4 application. The results of the study show that interpersonal communication and work environment have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. In addition, competence has been proven to strengthen the influence of these two variables on performance, thus demonstrating that improving employee skills and abilities is an important aspect in driving better performance. Overall, these findings emphasize the need for companies to ensure effective communication, provide a supportive work environment, and consistently improve employee competencies as a strategy for maintaining productivity and competitiveness.
