Abstract
A lot of working situations that don't meet standards make it more likely for healthcare workers to get Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI). Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI) may result from viral, bacterial, and fungal pathogens and can be affected by multiple environmental variables, particularly temperature, humidity, and ventilation. This study seeks to ascertain the correlation between indoor environmental factors, such as temperature, humidity, and ventilation, and the prevalence of acute respiratory infections among outpatient healthcare personnel at Sulianti Saroso Hospital in 2025. The research employed a cross-sectional design utilizing environmental monitoring data for temperature, humidity, and ventilation, alongside medical records for ARI incidence data. Univariate and bivariate analyses employing chi-square tests were utilized to examine the investigation. The findings indicated that 60 workers (70.6%) suffered from ARI, 43 workers (50.6%) occupied rooms with unsuitable temperatures, 58 workers (69.7%) were in rooms with inadequate humidity, and 66 workers (77.6%) were in rooms with insufficient ventilation. The bivariate analysis indicated a significant association between humidity and the incidence of ARI (p-value=0.000), with improper humidity increasing the chance of ARI by up to sixfold (OR=6.000; 95% CI: 2.164–16.639). Temperature (p=0.082) and ventilation (p=0.814) exhibited no significant association. This situation is probably attributable to the moderate temperature range and the utilization of air conditioning, which can diminish the presence of airborne infections. There is a significant association between humidity and the incidence of ARI (p=0.000) among outpatient health workers at Sulianti Saroso Hospital in 2025.
