Abstract
This study aims to evaluate the impact of money politics on political participation in the DKI Jakarta III electoral district in the 2024 elections. People tend to be accustomed to the practice of money politics that has been embedded in political culture, thus reflecting the challenges in the democratization process in Indonesia. This study adopts Burhanuddin Muhtadi's money politics theory, which includes two indicators, namely retail and wholesale money politics strategies, and uses a quantitative approach through the simple linear regression method to assess the relationship between money politics as the independent variable and political participation as the dependent variable. Data collection was carried out through distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents who live in the DKI Jakarta III electoral district, covering North Jakarta and West Jakarta. The research findings show a positive and significant influence of money politics on community political participation, with a correlation value of 0,716. This is reinforced by the results of the simple linear regression test which shows an R Square value of 0,512, which indicates that money politics contributes 51,2% to community political participation in the DKI Jakarta III electoral district in the 2024 elections absolutely even though there are still 48,8% other factors outside this research model. This study concludes that money politics has an impact on the level of community political participation in DKI Jakarta Election District III in the 2024 Election. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as a reference in developing studies on money politics and other factors that influence political participation.
