Abstract

This research aims to find out the power and gender relations in the sextortion case committed by Hasyim as a public official figure who abuses power. Power relations and gender relations in the case of Hasyim to CAT are the result of knowledge generated from the way society views social and gender norms that form social construction. With the knowledge that develops in the community, it provides legitimacy and perpetuates layered power to Hasyim to commit sextortion to CAT. This research uses qualitative research methods with primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques used interviews and literature studies. The theory used in this research is the theory of gender and power proposed by Michael Foucault to analyze the Sextortion case by Hasyim. The results of this study are, The sextortion case committed by Hasyim was not only caused by gender and power relations, but there are bureaucratic norms of bureaucracy that are still rigid and have a thick patriarchy. The culture or culture in the bureaucracy that still worships men as leaders and the culture of having to submit to the leader gives it legitimacy as a tool of power to influence the way someone acts and thinks.
