Abstract

Tokopedia is the platform of e-Commerce Indonesia's leading local market. In the midst of its popularity, Tokopedia is still often misused to sell illegal products, one of which includes protected animals. There are still many sales of animals included in the list of protected animals without any significant supervision. The purpose of this study is to find out and understand how the Tokopedia E-Commerce monitoring system is related to online-based protected animal trade, as well as efforts to optimize monitoring-Commerce Tokopedia in stopping the trade in endangered animals. The research method used is the normative legal research method. The data collection procedure for this research uses a literature study from primary and secondary legal sources. The collection of information and data uses the help of various existing materials through documents, books, and international laws and agreements. The results of this study are cases of illegal trade in protected animals on Tokopedia are caused by the platform's internal policies that have not fully adopted the standard rules set by applicable law, which is then continued with minimal supervision by the parties-Commerce products that are uploaded or that are already actively traded. Therefore, Tokopedia needs to adopt new steps to deal with illegal trade crimes through cooperation or collaboration. This strategy involves coordination with law enforcement officers from the Indonesian National Police and the Ministry of Forestry. The collaboration that is established will include a clear division of roles and tasks for each party.
