Abstract
UMKM Konveksi Tas Maju Jaya faces the problem of a high defect rate in backpack production, averaging 4.34% per month, exceeding the company's tolerance limit of 3%, which can affect production efficiency, operational costs, and customer satisfaction. To address this issue, this study applies the Six Sigma method using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach, supported by tools such as Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, DPMO, Sigma Level, FMEA, and 5W+1H to analyze the most dominant types of defects and their root causes. Based on the results, the highest defect types found were uneven stitching and incorrect strap positioning, with an initial DPMO value of 4,353.87 and a sigma level of 4.23, which after improvement decreased to a DPMO of 1,613.98 with the sigma level increasing to 4.52. The proposed improvements implemented include additional inspection during the sewing process, rearrangement of SOP for strap positioning, operator training, and regular machine maintenance to prevent similar defects in the future. By applying the Six Sigma method, the company can improve product quality, reduce defects, lower production costs, and maintain customer satisfaction and trust in facing market competition.
