Abstract

Background : Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy is a condition in which the patient experiences motor disturbances that make daily activities difficult. Physiotherapy plays a crucial role in addressing issues such as disability, impairment, and activity limitations, enabling the patient to regain functional abilities and socialize like other children of the same age. Objective : To understand the physiotherapy management for a patient with Spastic Diplegia Cerebral palsy at Kitty Centre. Research Methods : This study used a case report method on a 6-year-old female patient, initials An. G, diagnosed with Spastic Diplegic Cerebral Palsy at Kitty Centre. The child’s motor function was measured using the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), spasticity was measured using the Modified Ashworth Scale (MAS), and gross motor skill were evaluated using the Gross Motor Function Measure (GMFM). The intervertions carried out to relax the muscle included massage, to develop motor memory in the child patterning was used, improve joint range of motion and elasticity, stretching was applied, and the use of splints or AFO helped to reduce spasticity and prevent contractures. Results : The results of the study showed improvement in muscle strength, increased patient stability, and greater confidence in taking steps. Conclusion : After three therapy sessions, improvement were observed in muscle strength, postural stability, and the patient’s willingness to walk. These improvements followed interventions including massage, patterning, stretching, and the use of Ankle Foot Orthosis.
