Abstract
Background: Mixed type cerebral palsy is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by postural disorders and non progressive brain damage. The mixed type is a combination of two types of cerebral palsy, such as spastic and dyskinetic, which causes complex functional disorders. Physiotherapy plays an important role in improving the functional abilities and quality of life of children with cerebral palsy. Objective: To determine the management of physiotherapy in children with mixed type cerebral palsy at RSAB Harapan Kita. Method: This study uses a case study design on a 1 year 8 month old boy with mixed type cerebral palsy, who underwent physiotherapy 4 times in 2 weeks, and contains patient data including identity, anamnesis, physiotherapy examination, intervention, and evaluation. Results: After conducting an evaluation of 3 meetings, there was no change in the range of motion of the joints, muscle strength and spasticity. There was no change in sensory, muscle strength, mobilization and transfer ability and motor function ability in children. Conclusion: The results of the examination showed that Cerebral palsy mixed type experienced functional problems such as balance disorders, fluctuations in postural tone, muscle weakness, and auditory sensory hypersensitivity. To evaluate and overcome their functional problems, physiotherapy interventions were carried out such as stretching, NDT, joint stimulation, strengthening, and tilting table exercises.
