Abstract

Cervical cancer is the second most prevalent cancer in Indonesia, with 36,633 new cases reported in 2020 and a projected increase to 39,800 cases by 2040. Beyond HPV infection, additional factors such as hormonal contraceptive use, parity, and smoking habits have been shown to contribute to the increased risk of cervical cancer. This study aims to examine the association between hormonal contraceptive use, parity, and smoking habits with cervical cancer incidence at RSAL Dr. Mintohardjo Jakarta. A case-control study design was employed, involving 66 respondents. The case group comprised patients diagnosed with cervical cancer, while the control group included patients without cervical cancer. Bivariate analysis was conducted using the Chi-square test with a significance threshold of p < 0,05. Multivariate analysis was performed using logistic regression to assess the combined effects of the independent variables on cervical cancer incidence. The findings revealed that 37.9% of patients belonged to the multiparous category, and 51.5% utilized progestin-based hormonal contraception. Moderate smoking habits were observed in 61.1% of patients. The Chi-square test demonstrated a significant relationship between parity and cervical cancer incidence (p = 0.001), hormonal contraceptive use and cervical cancer incidence (p = 0.006), and smoking habits and cervical cancer incidence (p = 0.015). However, no significant association was identified when hormonal contraceptive use, parity, and smoking habits were analyzed collectively in relation to cervical cancer incidence.
