Abstract

Discussion rooms play an important role in supporting student learning activities, especially for collaboration and idea exchange. However, the current room reservation system at the UPN Veteran Jakarta Library is still manual and considered inefficient. Therefore, a mobile application prototype was developed on the Android platform to facilitate the room reservation process. This study uses the Rapid Application Development (RAD) method, which enables fast development through iterations and direct user feedback. This application is equipped with a room recommendation system using a greedy algorithm, which works by selecting the best alternative room based on user preferences, time slot availability, date, and room capacity. Testing results show that this recommendation system is capable of providing relevant room alternatives when the desired room is unavailable. In addition, the application offers supporting features such as QR code scanning for booking validation, automatic cancellation for late users, automated scheduling, and interactive notifications. Based on the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) results, the application received a user rating score of 97.41%.
