Abstract

Limited parking space and inefficient parking monitoring systems are common issues in campus environments. This study aims to design and develop a smart parking prototype application capable of providing real-time parking slot availability information. The system is built using an ESP32 microcontroller, integrated with a web service based on Laravel and Express.js, and utilizes MySQL as the database. The development follows the prototype method, emphasizing rapid prototyping, testing, and iterative refinement based on feedback. The prototype consists of a parking lot mockup with 20 slots, each equipped with vehicle detection sensors. Sensor data is transmitted to the server in real-time, with an update interval of 3 seconds (backend) and 5 seconds (frontend). The system was successfully deployed on a cPanel-based hosting service (anymhost.id) for online access. Testing results confirm that the system functions effectively in displaying real-time parking slot availability. This prototype is expected to serve as an initial solution for implementing smart parking technology in campuses and other public areas.
