Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a syndrome characterized by increased blood glucose levels due to impaired insulin hormone secretion. Patients with diabetes mellitus are at risk of experiencing peripheral perfusion disorders, which are caused by uncontrolled hyperglycemia leading to impaired blood flow to the periphery, accumulation of waste products, disruption of nerve impulse transmission, and decreased sensation in the peripheral areas of the body. Various efforts are needed, such as education and self-management for people with DM to achieve better awareness and control of their condition through health education and diabetic neuropathy massage. This study used a case study research design with a descriptive method and a qualitative approach, including interviews, observations, physical examinations, and documentation. The main nursing problem identified was ineffective peripheral perfusion. The care plan included circulation care with diabetic neuropathy massage. After implementation, the results showed a reduction in numbness and tingling sensations in the edematous area. The main nursing problem was partially resolved, and the plan will be continued with outpatient care, accompanied by health education on diet management for DM patients, including meal schedules, and education on diabetic neuropathy massage for the patient's family, enabling them to perform it independently at home.
