Abstract
Scheduling plays a crucial role in higher education by ensuring that academic processes run smoothly. Although it may appear simple, scheduling is actually complex because of its multitude of factors involved, such as room availability, time slots, offered courses, and faculty teaching preferences. Within the Faculty of Computer Science of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta, scheduling is still done manually, often failing to fully accommodate the lecturer’s preferences and taking a considerable amount of time. This study aims to develop a Web-based Smart Scheduling System that uses Next.js as its frontend and FastAPI as its backend, using Genetic Algorithm and Simulated Annealing as an approach to make an optimal schedule accepted by all users. The User Acceptance Testing was carried out on three types of users—students, lecturers, and administrators. The test results showed an average rating above 80%, indicating that the system has been well received and meets the user needs. This study hoped that it will produce an efficient lecture schedule, enhance the lecturers satisfaction, and improve academic staff’s efficiency in making a schedule.
