Abstract
The researcher examined the pre and post interpersonal communication process of married couples from online games using the Social Penetration Theory approach. The purpose of the research is to examine how interpersonal communication plays a role and how the penetration process runs on romantic relationships in online games until marriage and domestic relationships. Interpersonal communication can be described with several characteristics, one of which is unique because each individual will become irreplaceable and a relationship will form its own unique pattern. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, and involves three couples as sources with their respective experiences. Experiences are explored through the interview process and documentation to get specific and in-depth answers in accordance with the formulation of the problem that has been described. The results of this study show that each couple has a different relationship pattern. Couple two has a pattern with the closest resemblance to the stages of penetration from Altman and Taylor. However, each couple needs openness as the main key to achieving intimate relationships.
