Abstract
Normal deliveries in Indonesia account for 67.7%, yet perineal rupture remains a common complication with significant prevalence, especially in Asia and Indonesia. Perineal rupture is influenced by maternal factors such as age, parity, and pushing technique, as well as fetal factors such as birth weight and head size. The impact includes increased bleeding and infection. This study aims to determine the relationship between baby's birth weight and the degree of perineal rupture in normal deliveries. The study was conducted in two clinics in East Jakarta, namely the Independent Midwife Practice Rachmawati Cipayung East Jakarta and the Maternity Clinic Midwife Djoko Cipayung East Jakarta. Cross-sectional research methodology and a quantitative study design are used in this study. Postpartum women who satisfy the inclusion and exclusion criteria make up the sample size, which is 116. Purposive sampling is the method used in the sampling procedure. Data collection is done using secondary data through medical records with a master table research instrument used by the researcher to measure each variable. The results of the bivariate test with the chi-square test show (p-value = 0.177 or > 0.05) indicating no significant relationship between baby's birth weight and the degree of perineal rupture in the two clinics in East Jakarta. The Odds Ratio (OR) value is 0.464, indicating that mothers with babies weighing less than 2500 grams can prevent perineal rupture 0.464 times more than mothers with babies weighing 2500 grams-4000 grams. Pregnant women are advised to monitor changes during the postpartum period, monitor weight gain through ANC and routine ultrasound examinations, and maintain a healthy diet. Healthcare providers need to educate pregnant women about the importance of ANC and routine ultrasound examinations, maintaining a healthy diet and weight, and recommending hospital delivery if the baby has an abnormal weight. This research is expected to serve as a guideline or reference source for future researchers.
