Abstract
Pulmonary tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that significantly affects quality of life due to its high morbidity and mortality rates. Research conducted in Palembang, Indonesia, indicated that 56.6% of pulmonary tuberculosis patients experienced poor quality of life. This study aimed to identify factors influencing the quality of life of pulmonary tuberculosis patients at Bhayangkara Hospital Level I, Pusdokkes Polri Jakarta. A cross-sectional study design and purposive sampling technique were employed, involving 95 respondents. Primary data were collected through direct interviews using demographic characteristic questionnaires, the WHOQOL-BREF, and the MSPSS. The analyzed factors included age, gender, education, socioeconomic status, marital status, comorbidities, treatment side effects, treatment phase, and social support. Data analysis, including multivariate analysis, was conducted using Cox regression. The findings revealed that 62.1% of the respondents had a poor quality of life. Social support emerged as the most significant factor affecting the quality of life of adult pulmonary tuberculosis patients, with a prevalence ratio (PR) of 1.669 (95% CI: 1.002–2.780). Patients with poor social support were at a higher risk of experiencing a poor quality of life. Therefore, counseling services for patients and their families are essential as part of comprehensive treatment and care for pulmonary tuberculosis.
