Abstract
Pulmonary tuberculosis patients require six months of treatment, which has the potential to cause non-adherence. Treatment adherence refers to a patient's compliance with medical directives to ensure an optimal healing process. High levels of self-efficacy and Health locus of control (HLOC) can increase confidence in completing treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and HLOC with medication compliance in patients with pulmonary tuberculosis at the Duren Jaya Health Center. This cross-sectional quantitative study involved 52 patients at Puskesmas Duren Jaya, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the MMAS-8 questionnaire, MHLC Scales, and the Guide for Constructing Self Efficacy Scale questionnaire. This study used the Fisher-exact alternative test which showed the results of a significant relationship between self-efficacy with medication adherence (p-value 0,00 <0,05) and HLOC with medication adherence (p-value 0,00 <0,05). High self-efficacy and HLOC contribute to patients' motivation to adhere to medication. Thus, these psychological factors play an important role in promoting the recovery of pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
