Abstract

Stunting is a global health problem due to chronic malnutrition and is influenced by parenting and maternal self-efficacy. Maternal self-efficacy, which is the mother's belief in her ability to provide optimal care, plays an important role in preventing stunting through fulfilling children's nutritional needs. This study aims to analyse the relationship between feeding parenting and maternal self-efficacy with the incidence of stunting in toddlers in Kramat Jati Village, East Jakarta. The research design used a cross-sectional analytical quantitative approach with Quota Sampling technique, involving 366 mothers of toddlers. Data analysis was performed using the chi-square test. The results showed a significant relationship between feeding parenting (p=0.009) and maternal self-efficacy (p=0.007) with the incidence of stunting. Children with inappropriate feeding patterns and mothers with low self-efficacy have a higher risk of stunting. In conclusion, increasing maternal self-efficacy and good feeding parenting are important to reduce stunting. Community-based education and intervention through posyandu or health services can be an effective strategy in supporting child development and preventing stunting.
