Abstract
Objective Foot pain is an abnormal sensory and emotional experience that occurs due to inflammatory and degenerative damage to the tissues on the underside of the tibia or fibula. This damage can affect the bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, tendons, fascia, bursa, nerves, skin, nails, vascular structures, and retinacula of the foot such as the superior and inferior extensor retinacula. Foot pain affects approximately 13-36% of the population and is often experienced by women. Research on foot pain in lecturers and educators is still very little in number, so knowing the factors that affect foot pain is important. Method This was a cross-sectional analytic observational study involving 102 respondents from stratified sampling. Demographic data, footwear, foot condition, smoking, body mass index, and exercise were collected and statistically analyzed with chi-square, fisher-exact test, and logistic regression. Result A total of 46 respondents (45.1%) experienced foot pain, with the majority coming from the male group (29.4%). The results of the analysis showed that age and Body Mass Index (BMI) had a significant relationship with foot pain (p<0.05). Conclusion Age and especially BMI are a risk factors significantly associated with foot pain in lecturers and staff. It is important for them to maintain an ideal BMI to reduce the risk of foot pain.
