Abstract
Advancements in information technology have transformed various aspects of life, including trade and business. The buying and selling process can now be conducted through online platforms, providing convenience for both business operators and consumers. This technology enables rapid and widespread information delivery, making computers and the internet essential components of daily activities, including business operations. This study aims to design a cake ordering information system for the MSME Davoz Kitchen Bakery to address issues in the previously manual ordering process. Errors in record-keeping and order delays are common problems resulting from traditional methods such as notebooks and personal WhatsApp. To identify the primary needs and challenges in managing the business, in-depth interviews were conducted with the owner, management staff, and operational team of Davoz Kitchen Bakery. These challenges include difficulties in managing orders, ensuring smooth transactions, organizing easy deliveries, and monitoring inventory in real-time to avoid stock shortages or surpluses To address these issues, a web-based information system was designed using the Waterfall method, consisting of the stages of requirement analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. During the system design stage, Unified Modeling Language (UML) was used to model various aspectsof the system to be developed, such as use case diagrams, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams. The result of this study is a computerized cake ordering information system, which is expected to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the ordering process at Davoz Kitchen Bakery, as well as provide convenience for customers in placing cake orders. This information system is expected to record sales data accurately and in real-time, reduce the risk of errors, and ensure that every transaction is well-documented. Additionally, better inventory management is expected to prevent overstocking or stock shortages, enhancing operational smoothness and customer satisfaction. This information system is anticipated to support the development of the MSME Davoz Kitchen Bakery in facing increasingly competitive market conditions.
