Abstract
In the context of multi-track diplomacy, Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta has played a significant role in interfaith diplomacy across nations. Through its Mosque Management Board, the mosque actively facilitates international cooperation and promotes moderate Islam, which impacts Indonesia's diplomatic relations with other countries. This research employs a qualitative descriptive approach to identify the factors driving Istiqlal Mosque's active involvement in religious diplomacy, as well as the challenges it faces. Government support and strategies implemented by the Mosque Management Board are key factors in strengthening the mosque's role as a religious diplomacy actor. However, the main challenge lies in the limited human resources available to manage and execute these diplomatic programs effectively. This study contributes to understanding how mosques can effectively engage in religious diplomacy and recommends the need for increased investment in developing skilled human resources in religious diplomacy. Consequently, mosques like Istiqlal can enhance their effectiveness in promoting peace and harmony among religious communities globally.
