Abstract

The documentary film with the title "The Prince's Ride" is a film that explains and documents the Empty Horse tradition originating from Cianjur Regency, West Java. This ocumentary is an observatory type film with a narrative style. The concept of this film is to provide data regarding the meaning and history of the Empty Horse tradition as well as the conflicts that have occurred between traditional practitioners and MUI of Cianjur. The creativity of the Director and Film Editor in this film has a strategic role in making this film where the Director is the supervisor and also the director of each production crew and also the source. Meanwhile, the Film Editor plays an important role in compiling every visual and audio that has been taken to produce an interesting documentary film for the audience. The implementation of the Director role was executed during the production phase, which took place in the regions of Jakarta, Bandung, and Cianjur, where the author directed every creative crew member and cameraman. Additionally, the author conducted direct interviews with the sources. Meanwhile, the editing role was carried out in the post-production phase using intellectual montage and tonal montage techniques, J Cut and L Cut techniques, then doing color correction and color grading, also utilizing animation and motion graphic to give the message to the audience.
