Abstract
After the 2019 presidential election, there were significant political changes in Indonesia. Prabowo Subianto, who was previously Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) rival in the 2014 and 2019 presidential elections, joined the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government as Minister of Defense in the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet. This move surprised many parties, considering the fierce competition between the two in the previous two presidential elections. In the 2024 presidential election, Prabowo will again run for president, with Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who is Jokowi's son, as vice presidential candidate. Therefore, this research seeks to examine the impact of changes in the political attitude of the Gerindra Party in supporting the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government on Prabowo's electability level in the 2024 presidential election. Electability is the level of electability or attractiveness of a candidate in general elections or other political contestations. Electability reflects how likely a candidate is to gain support from voters and win the position they are contesting for. Electability is measured through surveys or opinion polls that collect data regarding voters' preferences and opinions towards competing candidates. This research uses qualitative methods with research data sources from literature and interviews with parties who are considered experts and have great relevance to the research topic. Based on the results of research that has been conducted, Prabowo's electability level increased in the 2024 presidential election, although after the 2019 presidential election it decreased. The increase in Prabowo's electability in the 2024 presidential election is the impact of changes in the political attitude of the Gerindra Party which chose to join the Jokowi-Ma'ruf government. This decision made Jokowi-Ma'ruf supporters choose to support Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election because they considered that Prabowo-Gibran would be Jokowi's successor.
