Abstract

The survey data from the Research and Development Agency of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia shows that 47.7% of children have not enough their minimum energy requirements. Moreover, 66.8% of children have breakfast with low nutritional quality, which can affect their concentration in school. This research aims to investigate the relationship between breakfast habits, nutritional status, and learning concentration among students at SMP Negeri 2 Depok. The research method employed a cross-sectional design with stratified random sampling. A total of 113 respondents were sampled, and Fisher Exact test was used for data analysis. Data collection was carried out using questionnaires to determine the characteristics of respondents, 2x24 Hours Recall to determine breakfast intake, and Grid Test to measure learning concentration. It was obtained that there was a significant relationship between energy intake (p=0.005), protein (0.016), carbohydrates (p=0.027) and sufficient iron (p=0.001) with a better concentration of learning. A quality breakfast will result in a better concentration of study. It hoped that respondents who have a study concentration category and good breakfast quality can be maintained. Furthermore, there is a recommendation for further research with longer duration and larger samples.
