Abstract
Overnutrition in adults has become a global health issue. Body fat percentage is a determinant factor in experiencing nutritional problems. High body fat percentage can lead to decreased productivity and increased risk of various diseases. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between body image, snacking habits, sedentary lifestyle, macronutrient intake, and body fat percentage in university students aged 18-23 years. This research used a cross-sectional study design with stratified random sampling technique, involving 126 respondents. Data analysis included chi-square test and multiple logistic regression. Bivariate analysis results showed that there are associations between body image (p=0.001), energy intake (p=0.001), protein intake (p=0.004), fat intake (p=0.028), and carbohydrate intake (p=0.002) with body fat percentage. There were no associations found between snacking habits (p=0.858) and sedentary lifestyle (p=0.146) with body fat percentage. Multivariate analysis revealed that body image and fat intake have the most significant relationship with body fat percentage. Students are advised to monitor body fat percent, increase self-confidence and self-acceptance, pay attention to the selection of snacks, reduce sedentary activities and increase physical activity, and pay attention to and implement a good and balanced intake of energy and macronutrients.
