Abstract

Anemia occurs when the number of red blood cells or hemoglobin level is below the standard value. Mung beans help produce red blood cells and address hemoglobin deficiency. Guava is a fruit with the highest vitamin C, which can increase iron absorption up to 30%. This study aims to determine the effect of giving mung beans extract with guava juice on increasing hemoglobin levels in anemic adolescent girls at SMK Negeri 9 Kota Tangerang. The study uses a quasi-experimental design with a two-group pretest-posttest control group design. The sampling technique is purposive sampling, with a total of 36 adolescent girls divided into control and enhancer groups. Both groups were given 250 ml of mung bean extract, while the intervention group also received 150 ml of guava juice for 7 days. Data analysis was conducted using bivariate analysis with the Paired T-test and Wilcoxon test. The results showed a significant difference in hemoglobin levels before and after in the control group (p=0.000) and in the enhancer group (p=0.000). The administration of mung beans extract with guava juice and without guava juice can increase hemoglobin levels in female adolescents with anemia at SMK Negeri 9 Kota Tangerang.
