Abstract
Human trafficking remains a threat to the security of every country. Indonesia is one of the countries that cannot be separated from this threat, especially with the large number of migrant workers who come from Indonesia. In mid-2021, a new mode emerged to trap victims of human trafficking. This mode is in the form of fraudulent job vacancies abroad, where in the end migrant workers are not placed in the company and job position offered. This was experienced by Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Cambodia who were trapped in fraudulent companies. The massive use of social media is a means for trafficking syndicates to find target victims. With increasing reports of fraud cases experienced by Indonesian Migrant Workers in Cambodia, both the government and non-governmental organizations have made various efforts to deal with these cases. Migrant CARE is one of the non-governmental organizations active in handling cases of fraud against migrant workers with various advocacy. This research aims to discuss the role played by Migrant CARE while handling scammer cases on Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Cambodia, especially in 2021-2023, using Non-Governmental Organization Theory and the Concept of Human Trafficking. The method used in this research is qualitative using primary and secondary data sources. Data collection techniques include interviews and documentation. The final results of this study show that in addition to the Government of Indonesia, non-governmental organizations also have an important role in resolving cases of migrant workers who become victims of human trafficking and are trapped in scammer companies.
