Abstract

Cardiac arrest cases and trauma deaths are still the leading causes of death in the world. This study aims to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and psychological aspects of the attitude and willingness of the community to perform first aid for cardiac arrest and trauma in the community. This research is quantitative with cross-sectional as the research design. The quota sampling method was used to determine a sample of 316 people who were members of the community in the research area, with data collection using the accidental sampling technique. The questionnaire was used as a medium to assess the level of knowledge, attitude, willingness and psychological aspects that become obstacles for respondents. The results of Chi-Square analysis found that the presence of psychological barriers felt by respondents was the most significant factor (p<0,005) on attitudes and willingness to take first aid measures for cardiac arrest and trauma. It is hoped that this research can be the basis for government policy through the Depok City Health Service to reinitiate first aid training such as BHD aimed at the community so that they are more courageous in providing assistance.
