Abstract

Watching the capital's tourist attractions on social media has become a trend in society. Apart from that, people are also looking for references to tourist destinations to go on holiday. One of the tourist destinations that often appears is the Thousand Islands. The representatives of Thousand Islands that are visited by many tourists are Harapan Island, Kelapa Island, Dolphin Island, Perak Island and Kelapa Dua Island. One of the reasons for the large number of tourist visits is due to the large amount of content on social media that conveys the beauty of tourism there with the narrative of 'hidden paradise'. But does virtual reality match the connotation of 'paradise' in the Thousand Islands in accordance with actual reality? This documentary seeks to explore the phantasmagoria that exists on these four islands. Not only that, this documentary also tries to find out whether there is an economic impact on local residents from the presence of tourists due to the rise of content on social media with the narrative of 'hidden paradise'. This final non-thesis work is submitted as a report on the film creation process to show the producer's creative strategy and the application of montage editing techniques in the documentary film entitled "Phantasmagoria of Thousand Islands: Exploring the 'Heaven' of the Capital Island". The literature review explains that producers have creative strategies in planning, organizing and implementing documentary films. Producers must also be able to manage the crew from arranging pre-production to post-production schedules, making cost plans, finding and contacting sources, as well as making cooperation letters or permission letters so that the production process runs smoothly. Meanwhile, Sergei Einstein's montage editing technique will be applied in this documentary with its characteristic, namely juxtaposition, which combines two or more shots to develop an idea or thought.
