Abstract
Several studies show that the level of knowledge among adolescents about HIV is still relatively low. Research in Jakarta indicates that 63.8% of 80 students still have insufficient knowledge about HIV. Research in Bali mentioned that 44% of 161 students have inadequate knowledge about HIV, while 32.3% have sufficient knowledge and only 26.7% have good knowledge about HIV. Good knowledge about HIV is essential as one of the efforts to prevent the increase in HIV prevalence. The aim of this study is to determine the effect of using the HiCare application on the level of knowledge among adolescents about HIV. The method used in this study is quasi-experimental, using the HiCare application as an intervention. HiCare is an application that contains features about HIV (definition, transmission, symptoms, complications, diagnostic tests, prevention, and treatment), myth or fact features, and quizzes that can be accessed in Playstore. The sampling technique used was stratified random sampling. The respondents involved in this study were 68 students. The results showed that the majority of respondents were 17 years old (45.6%) and female (61.8%). The average score of HIV knowledge among adolescents increased from 11.40 to 14.66 after the intervention using the HiCare application for 2 days. The wilcoxon test results showed a significant difference in scores before and after the intervention using the HiCare application. The conclusion of this study is that the HiCare application has an effect on increasing knowledge about HIV among adolescents at SMA Negeri 6 Depok. It is hoped that the HiCare application can be used as an educational medium to increase public knowledge about HIV, especially among teenagers.
