Abstract
Cirrhosis is a condition where scar tissue and nodules form in the liver due to chronic injury. Patient therapy can be affected by interactions between drugs resulting from polypharmacy. This study aims to identify potential drug interactions in liver cirrhosis patients at RSU kota Tangerang Selatan and examine the relationship between drugs quantity and potential drug interactions. The research method was observational using cross-sectional study techniques and a retrospective approach on 50 liver cirrhosis patients in 2023. Drug interaction data was analyzed using Drugs.com, the relationship between drugs quantity and potential drug interactions was examined using the Spearman-rank correlation test. Characteristic results were obtained for 29 male patients (58%), 20 patients aged 56-65 years (40%), and 19 patients (38%) experiencing ascites complications with Child Pugh Score class C as many as 12 patients (24%) and the number of drugs consumed by patients was ≥ 5 as many as 43 patients (92%). Most drug interactions occurred through pharmacodynamic mechanisms in 87 cases (54%) with moderate severity in 108 cases (71.52%). Spearman's correlation shows r = 0.562 with a significance value of p = 0.000 (<0.005), indicating a positive relationship with moderate strength so it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between the number of drugs and potential drug interactions, with patients receiving a number of drugs ≥5
