Abstract
Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease of the respiratory tract caused by the SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus) virus. Treatments that can be given to patients are corticosteroids to reduce inflammation happened to patients. A side effect that can occur after corticosteroid administration is hyperglycemia. The purpose of this study is to determine the significant difference between RBS levels before and after corticosteroid administration in COVID-19 patients with type 2 DM at RSUP Persahabatan in 2020-2021. This study used a retrospective method through medical records of COVID-19 patients who have type 2 DM at RSUP Persahabatan during December 2020-December 2021. Patient characteristics recorded are age group and gender. The dependent variable is the patient's RBS level after corticosteroid and the independent variable is the administration of corticosteroid. A total of 88 COVID-19 patients who have type 2 DM at RSUP Persahabatan in 2020-2021 who fit the inclusion and exclusion criteriahad a median RBS value before of 217 mg/dl (73-806 mg/dl) and RBS after of 255 mg/dL (111-593 mg/dL). There is no significant difference in RBS levels (sig (2-tailed) >0.05) in COVID-19 patients who have type 2 DM at RSUP Persahabatan in 2020-2021 before and after corticosteroid administration.
