Abstract

PT XYZ, an automotive manufacturing company, faces a new challenge in painting new Bi-Tone color models. This specification requires a new masking process in the top coat offline area, leading to a bottleneck of Bi-Tone units. This research aims to evaluate and analyze the queueing system for Bi-Tone units, propose improvements, and implement them through simulation. Queueing theory and system simulation are employed to analyze the current system and test a proposed model. The results reveal that the existing queueing system is unstable and creates a bottleneck. To address this, a new model is proposed, involving the relocation of the queueing area to the top coat storage and the conversion of one repair station into a masking station. This model effectively eliminates the bottleneck by increasing the processing capacity for Bi-Tone units from 27.17 to 47.12 units per day, with the maximum number of units in the queue being lower than the queue capacity. However, the proposed changes might impact the queueing system for defect units, necessitating further monitoring.
