Abstract

PT Mahasuri Utama is an MSME that operates in the aspects of sewing services and making ready-made clothing using the CMT (cutting, making and trimming) process. The failure to achieve production targets in several months was caused by excessive workload, resulting in high worker fatigue and decreased productivity. This study uses the cardiovascular load (CVL) and DRAWS (Defence Research Agency Workload Scale) methods to measure workers' physical and mental workload. Based on the results of processing physical workload data for 59 workers, it was found that 23 workers needed improvement with workstations that needed improvement, namely finishing (removing threads) and finishing (ironing). Meanwhile, the results of processing mental workload data for 59 workers showed that 41 workers fell into the overload category with workstations that fell into the overload category, namely cutting and sewing. The proposed improvements for the sewing and cutting workstations are to provide training and skill development every 3 months, make scheduling and set production targets for smaller sections, conduct regular evaluations, and provide awards for workers. As for the finishing (removing threads) and finishing (ironing) workstations, take a 10-minute break every 2 hours of work, do stretching, stretch with music every 2 hours of work for 5-10 minutes, and can use anti-fatigue mats and personal protective equipment.
