Abstract

Coffee is one of Indonesia's leading commodities that has the potential to improve the economy through exports. Seeing the condition of the Australian market which is quite large due to the consumption of Australian people for coffee, Australia is one of the destinations for Indonesian coffee exports. Indonesia's coffee commodity exports to Australia have increased in the period 2018 - 2020, even though in that year there was COVID-19 that hit the world. The purpose of this study is to analyze and understand the strategies carried out by Indonesia through economic diplomacy in its efforts to increase coffee exports to Australia in 2018-2020. This research uses the theory of international trade and the concept of economic diplomacy. The method used is descriptive qualitative by utilizing primary and secondary data sources. The data collection techniques used in this research are through interviews, data from documents and relevant literature, both from print and online media. The results of this study show the efforts and maximization of economic diplomacy carried out by Indonesia in exporting coffee to Australia involving various state and non-state actors. The form of these efforts is by conducting Business Matching and Business Meetings and participating in the international coffee exhibition Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE) from these two efforts Indonesia succeeded in getting coffee sales transactions with Australian buyers. Furthermore, the efforts made are by conducting IA-CEPA agreements; Coaching or Dissemination to Indonesian Exporters; and Collaboration with the Indonesian Diaspora in Australia. Through these efforts, the value and volume of Indonesian coffee exports to Australia in 2018-2020 also increased quite well.
