Abstract

Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis is a contagious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberkulosis, which predominantly infects lung tissue. Pulmonary tuberkulosis has a significant prognosis and is one of the leading causes of death globally. Method: Qualitative research in the form of a case study at Khdmat Sehat Afiat Hospital (KiSA) in Depok. The inclusion criteria for this case study were patients aged 56 years with a diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis and composmentis condition who were willing to be respondents. Data collection used included interviews, observations, document studies, and physical examinations. The specific intervention carried out was Effective Cough Exercise according to SOP. Results: Assessment obtained patients coughing for 1 month, shortness of breath, weakness, weight loss. The emerging diagnosis was ineffective airway clearance, activity intolerance, and nutritional deficit risk. Implementation carried out according to the specific intervention of Effective Cough Exercise for 3x24 hours. Evaluation of problems with ineffective airway clearance, activity intolerance, and nutritional deficit risk partially resolved. Conclusion: The implementation of Effective Cough Exercise for sputum expulsion can be resolved.
