Abstract
Background: one of the mental disorders (schizoaffective) is a combination of symptoms (depressive, manic, affective) with negative and positive symptoms of schizophrenia. This scientific paper aims to provide an overview of nursing care for Mrs. M with self-concept disorders: chronic low self-esteem in the Melati Room of Dr. Soeharto Heerdjan Mental Hospital Jakarta. Research Methods: employing a case study approach method in conjunction with a descriptive scientific paper design. Results: client’s predisposing and precipitating factors, signs and symptoms, coping sources, and coping mechanisms were identified through assessment. Predisposing factors included client feelings of depression and worthlessness, traumatic past experiences. And precipitation factors included client ran away from home two months before the hospitalization. Nursing diagnoses successfully established include chronic low self-esteem and the risk of violent behavior. Interventions were successfully provided based on priority of nursing diagnoses. The nursing problem has been resolved as a result of the client's nursing evaluation. Conclusion: It can be concluded that the nursing care provided to Mrs. M in accordance with the prepared interventions and appropriate implementation strategies can minimize the signs and symptoms of chronic low self-esteem, the risk of violent behavior, and improve the client's condition, feelings of self-worth, and confidence.
