Abstract

Stroke is a disease that affects the nervous system due to problems with blood circulation in the brain. Stroke is the 2nd leading cause of death and the 3rd leading cause of disability in the world. One of the symptoms experienced by stroke patients is weakness in the muscles of the limbs which affects the patient's independence in carrying out daily activities. One way to overcome the problem of muscle weakness is to do movement and music therapy, namely MMT. This case study research aims to analyze the nursing care of 2 managed patients and apply Music movement therapy (MMT) as an alternative to overcome physical mobility problems in stroke patients. The results of the application of MMT, which is carried out every day while the patient is treated, are that there is a significant increase in muscle strength and ability to independently move in patients who have just experienced a stroke but in patients with recurrent strokes the changes are only small and take longer to recover. Therefore, nurses are expected to be able to apply MMT appropriately tailored to the patient's condition and routinely performed for stroke patients with muscle weakness and decreased independence in activities.
