Abstract
Poverty is a fundamental problem that affects many countries around the world, especially developing countries. In Indonesia, the problem of poverty is reflected in the high poverty rates that are still widespread in various provinces, including the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). To address this problem, the government needs to implement appropriate policies that not only solve the problem of poverty but also improve the welfare of the people on an equitable basis. The purpose of this study is to identify the influence of variables such as the open unemployment rate, minimum wage, and education level on the poverty rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. In this study, the sample was taken using a saturated sampling technique from 5 regencies/cities for 10 years, from 2013 to 2022. A total of 50 samples were used, obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). Stata 17 was the software used to apply panel data regression analysis to process the data in this study. The findings of the study show that, partially, the open unemployment rate has a significant positive effect on the poverty rate. However, the minimum wage and education level show a significant negative effect on the poverty rate. Simultaneously, the findings of this study state that the open unemployment rate, minimum wage, and education level have a significant influence on the poverty rate in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
