Abstract
This study discusses the urgency of depleting the availability of clean air faced by the world community, one of the reason why is due to the increasing volume of carbon emissions caused by conventional vehicles. Indonesia then realized this urgency and has made efforts to overcome conventional vehicle exhaust emissions through various policies and programs, such as international cooperation for developing electric vehicles, building charging infrastructure, and others. One of the policies pursued and implemented by many countries and proven successful in reducing carbon emissions is the energy transition policy. In the implementation process, Indonesia then carries out bilateral cooperation and adopts policies from other countries, in this study it focuses on Japan, as the home of world-renowned automotive manufacturers, where this bilateral cooperation is one of the steps taken by Indonesia to accelerate the energy transition in Indonesia. automotive sector. From this background, to direct researchers to carry out tests and collect data, theories and concepts are needed in this research, namely bilateral cooperation, foreign direct investment, and energy transition. In addition, in this study the method used was descriptive qualitative which was carried out through data collection and analysis of primary and secondary data. The results of this research explain Indonesia's process towards net zero emissions which is carried out through bilateral cooperation by Japan in its implementation at the Toyota company. Toyota was chosen as the automotive industry manufacturer under study because it is one of the manufacturers that introduced electric vehicles to the world and has many work programs that demonstrate concern for environmental sustainability. This research also explains how the forms of bilateral cooperation carried out by the two countries in Toyota companies such as technology transfer, investment, and development of human resources who are ready for electrification technology.
