Abstract
This study aims to discuss the contribution of Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in the renewable energy sector in Vietnam through investment and non-equity modalities (provision of equipment and contractors for renewable energy power plants). The theory used is complex interdependence and resource dependence theory. The method used in this research is qualitative in the form of case studies using primary and secondary data. Researchers used three stages of data analysis according to Miles & Huberman, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The final results of this study indicate that actors, in this case the developing country Vietnam, need transnational actors to address their limitations in addressing contemporary global issues such as renewable energy. Based on the researchers' findings, with the addition of Vietnam's renewable energy capacity which has increased by more than 100% in the 2016-2021 period, MNCs have a central role, both in investment, supply of equipment, and construction services of renewable energy power plants. Thus, it can be said that MNCs have contributed to Vietnam's renewable energy production, both in the funding and technology sectors.
