Abstract

This research was created and conducted to observe the development of Foreign Direct Investment or foreign direct investment and also to see the effect of economic growth, inflation, interest rates, and Trade Openness on Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN-7 countries. This study uses a sample of ASEAN-7 countries consisting of Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand & Brunei Darussalam which have the largest Foreign Direct Investment inflow among the 10 ASEAN countries. The sample used in this research uses 7 countries with a period of 21 years, namely 2000-2020, so the total sample used is 147 data. This research uses secondary data obtained from the World Bank website. This research uses panel data analysis using the Eviews 10 program using a significance level of 5% (0.05). In this study, it was found that partial economic growth and trade openness had a significant positive effect on Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN-7. On the other hand inflation and interest rates do not affect Foreign Direct Investment in ASEAN-7.
