Abstract

Basic Health Research states that there has been an increase in the number of people with emotional disorders aged 15 years and above, from 6% in 2013 to 9.8% in 2018. The SOCA exam is one of the oral exams that causes anxiety in medical students. When facing the SOCA exam experienced by medical students, anxiety can cause poor sleep quality. This study aims to determine whether there is a association between the level of anxiety and the quality of sleep when facing the SOCA exam in medical students of the Faculty of Medicine UPN "Veteran" Jakarta. This research is a quantitative study using the probability sampling method using a proportional stratified random sampling technique, a sample of 208 respondents from the Faculty of Medicine UPN "Veteran" Jakarta class of 2019, 2020, and 2021. The majority had a mild level of anxiety when facing the SOCA exam, with a total of 160 respondents (76.9%), and the majority of students had poor sleep quality, with a total of 169 respondents (81.3%). The results of this research data analysis using the chi-square test obtained a p-value of 0.035. The results of the analysis of this study have a association between the level of anxiety when facing the SOCA exam and the quality of sleep in students of the Faculty of Medicine UPN "Veteran" Jakarta.
