Abstract

Exclusive and intensive breastfeeding coverage in Cakung, East Jakarta, ranked 3rd highest among all areas of Jakarta; breastfeeding activities often interfere with the mother's rest time, impacting sleep quality. The same phenomenon is accompanied by little literature that discusses the impact of poor sleep quality on mothers who breastfeed babies aged 0-6 months, one of which is increased stress. This study aims to analyze the relationship between sleep quality and stress levels in breastfeeding mothers with children aged 0-6 months in Cakung, East Jakarta. Methode: The method in this study is descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional approach, carried out in August - October 2022, the sampling method used was consecutive sampling. The respondents were mothers who breastfed babies aged 0-6 months. Result: The total sample size consists of 100 people, and the instruments used are the demographic data of respondents, Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10), and Pitts Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Out of a total of 100 respondents who experienced good sleep quality, as many as (60%) experienced mild stress, (40%) experienced moderate stress, and (0%) experienced severe stress. Respondents with poor sleep quality (15.3%) with mild stress, (60%) with moderate stress, and (24.7%) with severe stress. Conclusuion: The bivariate results with the Chi-Square test showed a p-value = 0.000, which proved a significant correlation between sleep quality and stress levels in breastfeeding mothers of infants aged 0-6 months in Cakung, East Jakarta.
