Abstract

Coronary heart disease is condition when the coronary arteries become blocked so that oxygen to the heart is reduced. The impact of the lack of oxygen supply to the heart is the occurrence of ischemia and even infarction of the heart muscle. Signs and symptoms typical of patients with coronary heart disease is chest pain. Pain can appear during activity and does not go away when resting. The hallmark of chest pain in patients with CHD is pain like being hit by heavy object even burning. Pain can penetrate to the back and left arm. Pain in patients with CHD can be treated with pharmacological and non-pharmacological therapies. Benson relaxation therapy is a non-pharmacological therapy that can reduce pain scale. On this occasion, the authors want to know about the effect of Benson's relaxation therapy on reducing the pain scale of patients with coronary heart disease. The method used is a case study approach to patients treated at Bhayangkara Hospital Level 1 Raden Said Sukanto. The author gives 15 minutes to patients for one intervention. The final results showed that Benson relaxation therapy had an effect on reducing the chest pain scale of patients with coronary heart disease.
